Flying the Drone
Flying the drone with XFly is an exciting and straightforward process. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pilot, this guide will help you navigate every step, from arming the drone to landing it safely. With clear instructions and safety tips, you’ll gain the confidence to master flying the drone while enjoying a seamless experience.
Arming and Disarming the Drone
Once turned on XFly drone will be in the disarmed mode and will not turn on motors when joystick commands are issued. This ensures the safety of the user and the drone.
When you are ready to fly the drone, connect the battery, keep the drone on a flat surface and make sure green light is blinking as follows. This green light ensures that the system has completed all system checks and the drone is in a good condition for flying. If yellow led is flashing, please refer the troubleshooting guide.
Move the left joystick to the bottom left corner and hold to arm the drone. Once the drone is successfully armed, all 4 motors will start to rotate slowly. If you release the joystick, the drone will start flying. But for now, let’s wait until we cover all the necessary steps.
To disarm the drone, move and hold the left joystick to the bottom right position. Once the drone is disarmed, motors will stop rotating.
Important: if you perform this action while the drone is in the air, all propellers will stop, causing the drone to fall. It is recommended to land the drone safely before disarming.
Taking off from the ground
Before flying the drone, make sure the drone is in the position hold mode (Location marker selected) and floor has visible color patterns with good lighting conditions.
- Method 1 – Arm the drone using the left stick and release the stick.
- Method 2 – Press the takeoff button and swipe the slider.
If the take off process is sucessfully initiated, the drone gradually rise to a height around 1 meter and stay there. If the drone flies away and crashes, the most possible reason could be either poor lighting condition or the floor does not have enough color patterns.
Controlling the drone
You can use the right stick to move forward, back, left and right. The drone will follow the command at moderate speeds.
Make sure to stay within the area with visible floor patterns if you are flying in the position hold mode.
Use the left stick to increase and decrease the altitude as preferred. Currently the maximum height is limited to 2 meters due to safety reasons.
Landing
- Method 1 – Long press the “Land” button. The drone will automatically land and turn off motors.
- Method 2 – Reduce the altitude to around 0.1-0.2 meters using the left stick and disarm the motors.
